Piano

The piano is a musical instrument played by means of a keyboard. It produces sound by striking steel strings with felt hammers that immediately rebound allowing the string to continue vibrating at its resonant frequency. These vibrations are transmitted through the bridges to the soundboard, which amplifies them.
The piano is widely used in western music. But it is very large and not portable. Also it is very expensive. It is mostly used in solo performances. It is sometimes classified as both a percussion and a string instrument (in a loose sense of that term).

it is widely considered that the piano was invented by a single individual: Bartolomeo Cristofori of Padua, Italy, employed by Prince Ferdinand de Medici as the Keeper of the Instruments.Like many other inventions, the piano was founded on earlier technological innovations.
Cristofori's new instrument remained relatively unknown until an Italian writer, Scipione Maffei, wrote an enthusiastic article about it (1711), including a diagram of the mechanism. This article was widely distributed, and most of the next generation of piano builders started their work because of reading it.

In the period lasting from about 1790 to 1860, the Mozart-era piano underwent tremendous changes, which led to the modern form of the instrument. This revolution was in response to a consistent preference by composers and pianists for a more powerful, sustained piano sound. It was also a response to the ongoing Industrial Revolution, which made available technological resources like high-quality steel for strings (see piano wire) and precision casting for the production of iron frames. Over time, the tonal range of the piano was also increased, from the five octaves of Mozart's day to the 7⅓ (or even more) octaves found on modern pianos.

Today's upright, grand, and concert grand pianos attained their present forms by the end of the 19th century. Improvements have been made in manufacturing processes, and many individual details of the instrument continue to receive attention

Library

A library is a collection of information, sources, resources, and services: it is organized for use and maintained by a public body, an institution, or a private individual. In the more traditional sense, a library is a collection of books.

Books can be a man's best friends. All you need is understand them and they understand you in return. For book lovers library is a temple. There are many types of libraries.
school libraries
· public libraries
· private libraries
· corporate libraries
· government libraries
· academic libraries
· historical society libraries

Some of the greatest libraries in the world are research libraries. The most famous ones include The Humanities and Social Sciences Library of the New York Public Library in New York City, the Russian National Library in St Petersburg, the British Library in London, Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris, and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C..

With the collection of media other than books for storing information, many libraries are now also repositories and access points for maps, prints, or other documents and artworks on various storage media such as microform (microfilm/microfiche), audio tapes, CDs, LPs, cassettes, videotapes, and DVDs. Libraries may also provide public facilities to access CD-ROMs, subscription databases, and the Internet.

Thus, modern libraries are increasingly being redefined as places to get unrestricted access to information in many formats and from many sources. In addition to providing materials, they also provide the services of specialists, librarians, who are experts at finding and organizing information and at interpreting information needs.

ORIGIN- Agoura Hills, California
ACHIEVEMENT-sold more than forty million albums and won two Grammys.
GENRE-nu metal
EARLY YEARS
Linkin Park's origin began in 1996 with rapper guitarist Brad Delson and Mike Shinoda with band called Xero. Other members of the band were Mark Wakefield the vocalist, Joseph Hahn the DJ, Rob Bourdon the drummer, and "Phoenix" Farrell the bassist. Brad Delson and emcee/vocalist Mike Shinoda attended the same high school together, where Delson also met the band's drummer, Rob Bourdon. Shinoda then hooked up with DJ Joseph Hahn while studying painting at the Pasadena Art Center. Xero made a four track demo tape including: Fuse, Stick N' Move, Rhinestone, and Reading My Eyes.
Mark left the band before they were called "Hybrid Theory" because things didn't work out,but he has always been a really good friend of theirs.
Later "Phoenix" chose to leave the band to tour with another band, called"The Snax".
The final and most important addition to the band came in the form of Chester Bennington.
Chester was the missing catalyst the band had been looking for. His (dynamic) voice makes him deliver the lyrics at a gentle yet aggressive pace. He could hit pitch notes like no other. Chester humbly even blames this on "years of singing" and "scar tissue".
The band chose to change the name to "hybrid Theory",as the labels weren't really catching on but had to change it to "Linkin Park" to avoid legal tussle with another band with the same name.
Their road to success started with their breakthrough album-HYBRID THEORY(october 24,2000),whose tracks like "crawling" and "one step closer"
established themselves as favourites among alternate rock. Its tracks were also included in movies such as Dracula 2000,little Nicky and Valentine.
The same year saw the nomination of HYBRID THEORY for the three Grammy Awards, including best new artist, best rock album, and best hard rock performance.
MTV also awarded the band with Best Rock Video and Best Direction awards for In the End.
With the smaching hit of Hybrid Theory, the band toured the world with bands like POD,system of a down and 3 doors down

In March of 2003, LP released their 2nd year album, Meteora. The first single "Somewhere I Belong" was an instant hit.
Linkin Park has won numerous awards including an award at the VMAs. Their popularity has grown world-wide.
They are now truly international (with a multitude of fans). From their hybrid genres to their non offensive swear-free lyrics, Linkin Park (cover a truly versatile ground and provide an entertaining and unique performance.)
Linkin park third album has-Minutes To Midnight has been an instant success. It has sold over 600,000 copies in its first week, making it one of the most successful debut week albums in recent years.
The album also captured the top spot on the Billboard Charts.
